A significant winter system is set to move across the region Wednesday, with Environment Canada warning of heavy snow and blowing snow that could make travel difficult throughout the day.
The agency says an Alberta clipper will bring 10 to 15 centimetres of snow, beginning early Wednesday morning. Forecasters expect periods of heavy snowfall, along with reduced visibility in blowing snow.
Officials say conditions may quickly deteriorate, with roads and sidewalks becoming slippery and hard to navigate as snow accumulates. Drivers and pedestrians are being urged to allow extra travel time and prepare for challenging conditions.
The snow is expected to ease Wednesday evening as the system moves out of the region.
