Peterborough County Council has approved the 2026 Budget, which includes a 5.29% increase in the levy.
The levy covers a dedicated infrastructure portion of 2.50% and a 2.80% increase for the Operating Budget, including 1.20% for County Operations and 1.60% for Shared Services. For residents, this translates to a 3.93% tax rate increase, or roughly $17.35 for every $100,000 in residential assessment.
Warden Bonnie Clark said the budget continues to invest in critical infrastructure while keeping operational increases below inflation. “County Council has continued to invest in our critical infrastructure with our commitment to a 2.50% dedicated infrastructure investment to support our roads and bridges – vital to providing the links for our residents and businesses. Staff brought forward a very responsible operational increase, below inflation this year, which focuses on our commitment to service delivery reviews and operational excellence. Thank you to our Finance Committee and County Council for their commitment to ensuring a responsible County budget for 2026.”
