The Peterborough Police Service is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect after an attempted break-in at a downtown restaurant last week. A second individual seen nearby is considered a person of interest.
Police say the incident happened around 12pm on November 25, 2025. The business owner reported hearing banging at a side door but wasn’t able to investigate until later, at which point a damaged lock was discovered. A call was made to police and the business was directed to online reporting.
Officers with the Community F.I.R.S.T. Unit followed up on Monday, December 1, 2025, and obtained video that a witness had recorded as the incident occurred.

Police say the pair had two black backpacks.
At the time of the attempted break-in, a Peterborough Police Service cruiser was in the area for an unrelated serious mental health call inside a nearby building. Officers had not been made aware of the situation unfolding outside.
