Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario has named Kevin Forrest as its next chief administrative officer, stepping into the role on December 1st as veteran transportation leader Roy Wierenga retires.
Forrest brings nearly 30 years of experience to the position, including two decades within STSCO. He first joined the consortium when it was established in 2005, working as a transportation route supervisor before serving as transportation safety lead and, most recently, manager of operations.
“I am honoured to take on the role of Chief Administrative Officer for STSCO,” Forrest said in a statement. “Having spent many years working within this organization and alongside our community partners, I believe that student transportation is a community effort… By working together, we can continue to support safe, dependable travel for our students each and every day.”
Before joining STSCO, Forrest worked as a transportation route supervisor for the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board and began his transportation career with Trentway-Wagar Inc. in 1997, later becoming manager of the Peterborough School Bus Division for Coach Canada. He also previously served as a civilian radio operator with the Ontario Provincial Police.
Forrest succeeds Wierenga, who has been CAO since 2023 and has played key roles in Ontario’s student transportation system for more than 35 years. His career includes helping establish STSCO in 2005, leadership roles with the Ottawa Student Transportation Authority and Student Transportation of Peel Region, and contributions to provincial initiatives such as the implementation of the amber warning light system.
STSCO provides transportation services for students of the Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board, the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board and Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.
