The Kawartha Pine Ridge District School Board is moving ahead with plans for a new elementary school in Millbrook and is seeking community feedback on proposed boundaries and grade structures.
The school, to be built in the Highlands of Millbrook subdivision at Fallis Lane and County Road 10, will include 481 student spaces and 73 licensed child-care spaces.
As part of a resource committee report, administrators outlined the boundary and program-setting process now underway. A public meeting on Nov. 20 marked the start of consultations on grade configurations — either Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 or JK to Grade 8 — as well as potential boundary adjustments affecting Millbrook/South Cavan Public School and North Cavan Public School.
A background study, including enrolment projections and draft boundary models, is available on the board’s website.
Input from the November session and online submissions will be reviewed before a second community meeting on February 26th.
“We are excited to move forward with the building of this new school to support students and families,” said Director of Education Rita Brown, adding that public feedback is key to the planning process.
