Millbrook is getting ready to deck the halls as its beloved Christmas in the Village returns on Saturday, December 6. King Street will be closed to vehicle traffic from 10:45 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., allowing families and visitors to stroll safely along a festive, pedestrian-friendly main street filled with lights, music, and holiday cheer.
The day kicks off with breakfast with Santa at The Peddler Bistro, featuring two seatings at 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Tickets, priced at $15 for children and $25 for adults, include photos with Santa and front-of-the-line access for horse-drawn wagon rides. Reservations are required and can be made by calling The Peddler Bistro at 416-458-1771.
Throughout the day, festive activities abound. Visitors can browse Christmas trees and greenery on the lawn of the Tinney House, enjoy pizza from outdoor ovens at Pies by Zach, and take free horse-drawn wagon rides outside the Masonic Temple. Students from Premiere Dance will put on performances at 1 p.m. and 2 p.m., while families can visit Santa at the Old Fire Hall from 2 to 5 p.m., or get creative with cookie decorating and seasonal crafts at the Nexicom Boardroom.
Local carollers will fill downtown Millbrook with live holiday music from 3 to 6 p.m., building up to the tree lighting ceremony in front of the Millbrook Legion at 6 p.m., where the mayor will officially light the tree and close the day with a moment of community celebration. Downtown businesses will stay open until 7 p.m. to welcome evening shoppers and visitors.
“Christmas in the Village is all about community,” says BIA Chair Kathie Lycett, speaking on behalf of the Christmas in the Village Committee. “It’s a day when our main street is filled with lights, music, and neighbours bumping into neighbours. We’re thrilled to once again welcome families from Millbrook and beyond to share in the holiday spirit.”
Lycett adds that the event brings hundreds into the downtown core each year, providing a chance for local businesses to shine while the community comes together in the spirit of the season.
