A former Grade 8 teacher has pleaded guilty to multiple sexual offences involving her students.
Kelly‑Anne Jennings, 41, appeared in a Peterborough courtroom Thursday, where she entered guilty pleas to six charges, including luring minors through online communications and producing and sharing explicit images of herself. The incidents occurred in 2023 and involved three of her former students.
Investigators say Jennings, who taught in Port Hope, used Snapchat to communicate with the students, sending nude and partially nude photos of herself while requesting similar material from them. One of the victims reported the exchanges to the Port Hope Police Service, triggering an investigation that led to her arrest in August 2024.
In court, the Crown requested a four‑year prison sentence, emphasizing the seriousness of the offences. The defence asked for a conditional sentence, citing personal struggles Jennings faced at the time, including marital problems, mental health challenges, and alcohol use.
Sentencing is scheduled for November 27 in Lindsay. A publication ban protects the identities of the victims and the school where she taught.
