The community is rallying behind the family of an 11-year-old boy who died tragically late last month.
On October 29th, the child died from injuries sustained after being pulled from the water at Lock 20 in the Maria Street and Ashburnham Drive area.
A GoFundMe page has been started in honour of Sylvan Brill by his aunt and uncle, and so far it has brought in more than $36,000. Organizers say funds raised will go to funeral expenses and help support his family as they try to come to grips with this unimaginable loss.
Additionally, flags were lowered to half-mast at Kaawaate East City PS and at the Education Centre as a tribute.
Brill is being remembered for his kindness, curiosity and infectious smile. In the days ahead, his principal and staff will continue supporting students and families as they process the loss.
