The Trent Excalibur men’s soccer team’s historic return to the OUA playoffs ended Wednesday night with a 3-1 loss to the No. 10-ranked Carleton Ravens at TAGG Park.
Carleton (7-1-5) showed its experience early, striking in the 15th and 20th minutes to build a 2-0 lead. Trent’s Owen Schultz was exceptional in goal, turning aside multiple point-blank chances and keeping his team within reach.
The Excalibur (6-6-1) got on the board in the 35th minute when Oliver Parratt intercepted a Ravens turnover and fired home a low shot for Trent’s first playoff goal in nine years.
Trent pressed for the equalizer throughout the second half, but Carleton restored its two-goal advantage in the 78th minute and held on for the win. Schultz finished as Trent’s player of the match with 13 saves on 16 shots, while the Excalibur tallied five shots on goal.
