The ongoing Canada Post labour disruption could pose a potentially huge challenge for the recently-launched 2025-25 United Way campaign.
That’s the word from United Way CEO Jim Russell, who says the attainment of the campaign goal is traditionally reliant on the response to the direct mail appeal by past and potential donors.
While no one knows how long the labour disruption will last, Russell says the United Way is forging ahead, considering work-around options if required.
Russell says coming up with a possible Plan B is a focus of internal discussions.
In the meantime, Russell is hopeful that donors consider other methods of giving should the strike continue into late October.
As announced at the recent campaign launch, this year’s goal is $1.6 million, which will support the work of 20 partner agencies serving Peterborough city and county.
