With the theme ‘From Seed to Table,’ the annual Norwood Fall Fair returns on the Thanksgiving long weekend, October 11th to 13th.
First held in 1868, the village later rented the field now known as the fairgrounds to the agricultural society for $15. Attending the fair has since remained an annual tradition for thousands over the years, its offering of farm animal exhibits, crafts, antique tractors and cars, live music and midway rides still resonating with many.
Among the many who have been working hard on this year’s edition of the Norwood fair is its general manager, Paul Quinlan, who is as well versed as anybody on its early beginnings.
Quinlan says preparing for the fair is year-round endeavour, noting numerous volunteers play a huge role in its success.
Speaking to specific fair attractions that are popular, Quinlan singles out the lawn mower races, which attracted a special guest one year.
Fair admission is $15 daily, with kids 12 and under admitted free, and parking is free. For more information and the complete fair weekend schedule, visit www.norwoodfair.com.
