Downtown Peterborough is gearing up for a night of candy, costumes, and community spirit.
On Saturday, October 25, families can expect the annual Halloween in the Booro event, where more than 50 local businesses will open their doors for trick-or-treating and festive activities.
DBIA Executive Director Nour Mazloum says the event, which saw over 1,000 kids take part last year, will include everything families have come to love – and then some.
Mazloum emphasized that there is no charge to attend the event, which runs from 4pm until 6pm, and no registration required.
Local businesses have embraced the event, welcoming a new demographic downtown and increasing their visibility in a fun, organized way. Mazloum says these events create opportunities for families to explore businesses they might not visit otherwise.
Mazloum says events like Halloween in the Booro, the sidewalk sale, and the annual tree lighting bring the community together and showcase the vibrancy of the downtown core. From scenic trails to new experiences like virtual reality at Another World VR Arena, she says downtown Peterborough offers more than shopping and dining — it’s a destination.
Families attending can plan their route using the official trick-or-treat map available online, which lists all participating businesses, accessible entrances, and family-friendly stops. Whimsical characters will roam George Street while decorated storefronts will offer candy and festive cheer.
Halloween in the Booro turns the streets of downtown into a storybook brought to life — a night of safe, inclusive, and memorable fun for the whole family, while highlighting the thriving small businesses that make Peterborough’s core a destination year-round.
