Social Services recipients who normally receive payments by cheque are being reminded to consider direct bank deposit or reloadable payment cards to avoid delays in November payments due to the ongoing Canada Post strike.
Cheques, letters, and paper statements will not be mailed during the strike. Recipients can pick up their payments and correspondence in person at the Social Services office, 178 Charlotte Street, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Identification is required.
Recipients can also access their files online through the MyBenefits portal at mybenefits.mcss.gov.on.ca.
Vendors and third-party payees receiving cheques are encouraged to contact Social Services to make payment arrangements and to sign up for direct deposit at Social assistance third-party payees | ontario.ca to prevent future delays.
