Two local residents are facing multiple charges following the arrest of a man wanted on a warrant and a woman passenger, after an off-duty officer spotted a suspicious vehicle Friday afternoon.
Just after 5pm, police were called to a parking lot near Murray Street and Bethune Street. Officers identified the driver as a 33-year-old Peterborough man wanted for failing to stop for police and careless driving. He was taken into custody without incident, along with the 28-year-old female passenger.
During a search following the arrest, officers seized 4.4 grams of fentanyl, 36.9 grams of cocaine, 17.6 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 4.2 grams of crack cocaine, a rifle, drug paraphernalia, and cell phones.
The man faces charges of possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and possession of cocaine, methamphetamine, and other drugs for the purpose of trafficking, while the woman is charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm and possession of methamphetamine.
