A fraud investigation into the alleged misappropriation of $140,000 involving a former Community Care Northumberland (CCN) employee has led to three arrests, according to Northumberland OPP.
On Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, Northumberland OPP issued a release saying several individuals had been charged in a fraud investigation.
Police said back on March 13, 2025, police were contacted by a representative of Community Care Northumberland regarding funds allegedly misappropriated by a former employee.
“The organization reported that approximately $140,000 had been transferred to unauthorized individuals under the pretense of transportation services,” reported OPP, in their release. “The transactions were believed to have occurred between October 2021 and February 2025.”
The Northumberland OPP crime unit was also engaged to assist with the investigation, added police.
Following a six-month probe, police said two individuals were arrested on Sept. 12, 2025.
As a result of the investigation, police said Bobby-Jo Preston, 45, of the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, was charged with fraud over $5,000, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
Police also said Christina Bowen, 69, of Peterborough, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
An additional individual was arrested in connection with the investigation on the morning of Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, said police.
Police said Nolan Preston, 23, of the Township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
None of these charges have been proven in court.
All of the accused are scheduled to appear in Cobourg court in October, reported OPP.
No other details were released by police.
