A 50-year-old Peterborough man is in custody after a violent road rage incident that police say involved racial slurs.
Around 6 pm Wednesday, a driver stopped at George and McDonnel was approached by a motorcyclist who yelled and spat at them before following them to a nearby parking lot. Investigators say the suspect then pulled a knife and continued yelling, including racial slurs, before fleeing.
Officers arrested the accused Thursday evening at his home. He’s charged with assault, assault with a weapon, uttering threats, and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
Police say the hate-motivated aspect of the case will be addressed in court.
