The Lindsay Exhibition has kicked off its 171st year with new leadership at the helm.
Lance Nachoff was named general manager of the Lindsay Agricultural Society, which has operated since 1854 and organizes the annual Lindsay Exhibition — Ontario’s fourth-largest agricultural fair. PTBOToday.ca spoke with Nachoff about his first year in the role.
The exhibition has long served as the society’s flagship event, drawing crowds for its mix of livestock shows, agriculture-focused displays, entertainment and midway attractions. Beyond the fair, the society’s facilities also host a wide range of events throughout the year, from home and craft shows to trade and consumer expos. Nachoff says that makes for a significant boost to the community’s economy. During his grant securement process, he found through the Tourism Regional Economic Impact Model that the Lindsay Ex has an estimated impact of $24 million.
The Lindsay Agricultural Society says its mission remains rooted in supporting and promoting the agricultural community, while strengthening connections with local organizations, service groups and youth programs across the region. As for Nachoff, he says he’s learning something new every day.
The Lindsay Exhibition runs from September 13 to September 21.
