Trent Valley Archives is hosting an open house planned around the launch of a new book that profiles Peterborough’s history via text and photos.
Set for September 20th, 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., at TVA’s Carnegie Avenue location, the open house will see historian Dr. Elwood Jones and photographer John McQuarrie speak to their book, titled ‘Peterborough: Spirit of Place. In addition, Dr. Jones will present materials related to what happened to the next generation of those who emigrated here from Ireland in 1825.
Dr. Jones says while fewer people have accessed Trent Valley Archive’ services since COVID, things picked up again this year with the interest in the Robinson emigration.
Jones says the breadth of material at TVA is quite remarkable.
As for the new book, Jones gives an overview of its genesis.
For $40, open house attendees will receive not only a copy of the new book but also a book on the Trent-Severn Waterway. Meanwhile, for more information on Trent Valley Archives, visit www.trentvalleyarchives.com.
