Peterborough Police are stepping up enforcement in school zones as students return from summer break.
On Tuesday, officers handed out 17 tickets during the morning and afternoon rush across Peterborough, Lakefield, and Cavan-Monaghan.
In Peterborough, 12 tickets were issued for offences including speeding — with one driver caught going 73 km/h in a 40 km/h zone — failing to stop, and cellphone use. Four tickets were issued in Lakefield, including one driver clocked at 76 km/h in a 40 km/h zone, while a single speeding ticket was handed out in Cavan-Monaghan.
Police also issued three warnings to drivers.
The back-to-school enforcement campaign will continue over the next few weeks.
