The Ontario Provincial Police, in partnership with the Peterborough Police Service, have laid charges as part of an ongoing drug trafficking investigation.
Last month, the Peterborough/Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit began investigating individuals suspected of distributing controlled substances. On Tuesday, two individuals, a 39-year-old male from North Kawartha Township and a 22-year-old male from Peterborough, were arrested in Englehart with approximately 125 grams of suspected cocaine.
Search warrants executed at locations in North Kawartha Township, Otonabee-South Monaghan, and Selwyn Township led to the seizure of suspected cocaine, roughly 1.8 kilograms of suspected marijuana, additional cannabis products, cell phones, firearms, ammunition, and items linked to transaction records.
The 39-year-old male faces charges including possession for the purpose of distributing cannabis, possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, and possession of a prohibited device or ammunition. The 22-year-old male faces a charge of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. Both were held for bail and are scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice.
Two additional individuals, a 35-year-old female and a 51-year-old male from Selwyn Township, were arrested following the search of a residence in the area. They face multiple firearms-related charges, including breaches of firearms regulations and unauthorized possession.
