The Peterborough Century 21 Lakers’ season came to an end Monday night after a 12-7 loss to the Six Nations Chiefs at Iroquois Lacrosse Arena.
The Chiefs captured the best-of-seven Major Series Lacrosse finals 4-1 and will represent the East at the 2025 Mann Cup, beginning September 5 in New Westminster, BC. This marks the third consecutive year the Chiefs have defeated the Lakers in the finals.
Trailing 9-3 in the third period, the Lakers attempted a comeback, scoring four times—including two power-play goals—and a goal from Justin Sykes off a Jake Withers faceoff win, but were unable to close the gap.
Sykes and Braedon Saris each scored twice, while Taite Cattoni added five assists.
The Lakers extended their thanks to fans, sponsors, volunteers, and everyone who supported the team throughout the season. The organization promises to return next summer even stronger.
