Staff from Oldies 96.7 and Freq 90.5 will be posted at area grocery stores Thursday as part of the annual Marks All Hands On Deck Food Drive.
Sales Manager, Jef Dueck, gives us a look at what to expect.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Greg’s No Frills on George Street North, Foodland locations on Sherbrooke Street, Hunter Street East and in Ennismore, and at Jo Anne’s Place Health Foods on Lansdowne Street West.
Last year’s drive collected more than 3,000 pounds of food and over $2,000 in cash. The campaign helps stock Kawartha Food Share, which supplies food to 17,000 children at 51 schools during the school year.
Each location will be accepting non-perishable food items, age-appropriate sanitary products, school-appropriate snacks foods, and other pantry essentials. Staff from the radio stations and on-site volunteers will also take cash donations. If shoppers would like to buy their donation first, staff and volunteers will can provide lists full of the food bank’s most-needed items..
Dueck says the event continues to rely on strong community support.
Dueck sayy the goal for the radio stations is to simply to help stock the cabinets.
Residents are encouraged to stop by during the event to make a donation to the cause.
