Here is your local sports report for Tuesday, August 12.
The Peterborough Lakers have one more day off before hitting the road tomorrow for a must-win Game 6 against Brooklin. After taking the first two games of the series, the Lakers have dropped three straight and now hope to force a Game 7 at home on Thursday night.
Peterborough native Erica Evans has added another international medal to her collection. The star lacrosse player was captain for Team Canada, who earned a silver medal yesterday at the World Games in Chengdu, China. Evans finished the tournament with 17 goals and 9 assists in 5 games and was named to the All-World Team. She’ll return to Peterborough this weekend as a member of the Mimico Mountaineers, who will be competing in the Women’s Major Series Lacrosse provincial championship.
And the locations for this year’s preseason games for the Peterborough Petes have been released. The team will kick things off on August 30 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre (PMC), followed by another game at the PMC on August 31, both against Erie. Then on September 7, they’ll face Kingston at the Norwood Arena.
