A Peterborough-based touring museum is preparing to head east with real dinosaur bones in tow.
Tim Jeffries, founder and presenter of the National Touring Museum, is launching a cross-Canada lecture tour starting in August, with stops throughout Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island. Jeffries, dubbed the “Rockstar of Dinosaur Expertise”, will showcase rare fossils including a Triceratops horn, real T. rex teeth, and a full-size portion of the world’s largest T. rex skull.
Known for his high-energy, interactive presentations, Jeffries blends science and showmanship in a travelling exhibit that features more than 350 real dinosaur bones. Last year, he delivered more than 50 talks across the country, and he’s already booking schools, libraries and museums into 2026.
“This is where we make history come alive,” Jeffries said. “We exist to ignite curiosity and bring history to life. Every time we stop in a new community, the energy is incredible, and we sell out fast. It is a presentation for all ages, and everyone learns something new about these amazing creatures.”
Jeffries is a recent graduate of the Starter Company Plus program, which supports local entrepreneurs. Rose Terry with Community Futures Peterborough said, “The National Touring Museum, led by Tim Jeffries, is not only preserving history, it’s making it.”
The tour will also include a stop at Bancroft’s Rockhound Gemboree, where Jeffries is the featured speaker for all four days. By late September, the museum will head west, combining the lecture tour with fossil-hunting and research for future exhibits.
