As the heat wave continues across Peterborough, the city is urging residents to help keep newly planted trees hydrated.
Young trees, especially those recently planted on road allowances and boulevards, are vulnerable to heat stress and drought.
To protect them, the City of Peterborough installs watering bags and fills them as needed. However, during hot, dry spells, residents are encouraged to assist by filling the watering bags once or twice a week.
This community effort supports the trees’ growth and helps maintain Peterborough’s urban canopy and green infrastructure.
