The Peterborough Police Service has rolled out an upgraded online reporting portal to make it easier for residents to report non-emergency incidents like theft, vandalism, and dangerous driving.
The new system, developed in partnership with Canadian-owned company Rubicon, offers a more user-friendly design, improved functionality, and the ability to upload photos and video. It’s available 24/7 and aims to help officers focus on urgent calls while still addressing minor crimes.
“We believe that projects like this showcase what innovation brings to the table to help make it as easy as possible for the public to make a report through the online reporting portal while increasing the functionality and responsiveness of the Service—all while creating a safer community,” said Chief Stuart Betts.
Police say online reports help them identify local trends and prevent more serious crimes, while also easing pressure on emergency lines.
To use the portal, residents can select the type of incident, complete a report, and receive confirmation by email. The tool is available at: peterboroughpolice.com/en/report-an-incident/Online-Reporting.aspx
Non-emergency incidents can also be reported by phone at 705-876-1122 ext. 225. For emergencies, continue to dial 911.
