Police are asking for the public’s help after a utility trailer containing tools was reported stolen from a church property just southeast of Peterborough.
According to the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police, officers were called on June 18th to a church property on Keene Road in Otonabee-South Monaghan Township after the trailer was discovered missing.
Investigators say the enclosed 2021 dark grey 5-by-8-foot trailer had been parked in the church’s parking area for several months. The complainant told police the trailer was last seen on Sunday, June 15, and noticed missing on the afternoon of Monday, June 16.
The trailer contained various contracting tools used for building and grounds maintenance at the church. It was secured with a hitch lock and a chain fastened to the axle. At the time it was taken, the trailer displayed an Ontario licence plate (V9153D) and stickers from Action Trailers.
The total estimated value of the trailer and contents is roughly $6,000.
Police are urging anyone with information about the theft or the whereabouts of the trailer to contact Peterborough County OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or to provide an anonymous tip through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online at www.stopcrimehere.ca.
