A local student who was involved in a head-on collision earlier this month has died as a result of her injuries.
An update was given on Wednesday courtesy of Amber Gregory, the organizer of a Go Fund Me page set-up.
The update read:
It is with profound sadness, we share that Makenna Marie-Louise Sinden-Flemming has peacefully passed away, having succumbed to her injuries on June 24th. She was surrounded by her loving family, who meant the most to her.
As she took her final bow, her favourite dance performance song played softly in the room — a beautiful reflection of the light and spirit she brought into our lives. It was a fitting farewell for someone who moved through this world with such passion and devotion.
Makenna will be remembered not only for her talent or strength but for the warmth, compassion and kindness she gave so freely, especially to her younger siblings Ryker and Brailee. She was the best big sister anyone could ask for. Makenna was endlessly supportive, fiercely protective and full of unconditional love.
We thank you for your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
In a note to families of students at Thomas A. Stewart, officials offered their deepest condolences and confirmed there are mental health clinicians at the school board for students and staff. Flags will be lowered at TASSS and the Education Centre.
The GoFundMe page remains active and to date has brought in more than $34,000.
