Here is your local sports report for Tuesday, June 24.
The Jr A Lakers came out on the losing side Monday night, falling 13-6 to the Toronto Beaches at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. DJ Clark and Nate Sage each recorded four points in the loss, but the Lakers were unable to close the gap after trailing early. They’ll look to rebound on Wednesday when they travel to Oakville to take on the Buzz, before returning to home floor Friday night to host the St. Catharine’s Athletics.
The Senior Lakers are in action tonight, hitting the road to face the two-time defending champion Six Nations Chiefs in a battle for first place in the Major Series Lacrosse standings. The last time the two teams met was on May 22, when the Lakers pulled out a narrow 7-6 win.
Meanwhile, a pair of Peterborough Tigers baseball squads are also back on the field tonight. The U13 Tier 2 Tigers host Kawartha at Milroy Park, while the U9 AA team welcomes Oshawa to East City Bowl. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 6pm.
From the box to the ballpark, the Peterborough sports scene is already in full swing this week.
