The Peterborough Jr C Lakers wrapped up their regular season on a high note Sunday, defeating the Orangeville Northmen 11-7 at the Healthy Planet Arena.
Reed Chamberlain had a six-point performance in the win, securing the league scoring title with 82 points in just 13 games. The Lakers finish the season in first place with a 15-1 record.
They’ll begin their playoff run at home this Saturday at 1pm, with their opponent expected to be confirmed Tuesday night.
It’s another busy week for the Jr A Lakers, who are set for their third stretch of three games in five days. It starts tonight when they host the Toronto Beaches. Game time is 8pm at the Memorial Centre.
And in football, the Peterborough U14 AA Wolverines improved to 5-1 on the season with a 34-24 road win over the North Bay Bulldogs. The team is off this week before returning to action July 5 at York University, where they’ll face the Junior Argos.
From a scoring title and a first-place finish, to a big win on the gridiron, the tone has been set for another strong week for Peterborough sports.
