Peterborough’s downtown will come alive this summer with Movies at the Park, a new free outdoor movie series presented by the Peterborough Downtown Business Improvement Area (DBIA).
Beginning July 8, the weekly Tuesday night screenings will run through August 12 at Quaker Foods City Square, located at 215 Charlotte Street between George and Aylmer. Movies start at dusk—around 8 pm—and run until about 10 pm.
The 2025 schedule offers a variety of films for all ages:
-
July 8: Wicked
-
July 15: Kung Fu Panda
-
July 22: Happy Gilmore
-
July 29: Twisters
-
August 5: The Wild Robot
-
August 12: Jumanji
Alongside the movies, local businesses will be on site selling drinks, snacks, and treats to enhance the outdoor experience. Admission is free, and no registration is necessary. If the weather turns poor, screenings will move indoors to the Peterborough Public Library.
Nour Mazloum, Executive Director of the DBIA, said the series aims to bring the community together and support local businesses while adding energy to the downtown core.
The City of Peterborough also supports the initiative, highlighting the role such events play in activating public spaces and enriching summer festivities.
As part of the city’s Canada Day celebrations, an additional outdoor movie night featuring Fly Away Home will be held on June 30 at Quaker Foods City Square, starting at 8 pm.
