The Ontario government is launching two one-time assistance programs to help municipalities, small businesses, farms and not-for-profits recover from the devastating March ice storm that left nearly 400,000 homes and businesses without power across central and eastern Ontario.
The new ‘Municipal Ice Storm Assistance Program’ will help municipalities cover emergency response and clean-up costs, while the ‘Business Ice Storm Assistance Program’ is aimed at helping smaller organizations with costs not covered by insurance.
“Our government is stepping up to provide impacted communities with the resources they need to recover and rebuild,” said Rob Flack, Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. “These new programs will deliver critical financial support to help make communities safe, protect local jobs and get businesses back on their feet.”
Eligible municipalities, small businesses, farms and not-for-profit groups have until October 31, 2025, to apply for financial assistance.
Program details and application information are available on the government’s Municipal and Business Ice Storm Assistance program webpages.
