The Jr A Lakers return to the floor tonight for their third game in five days, hosting the first-place Orangeville Northmen at the Peterborough Memorial Centre. The Northmen are riding an 11-game win streak after dropping their season opener back on May 21. Game time is 8 pm.
Soccer fields across the city will be packed as the Peterborough City Festival for boys U9 to U12 and the Peterborough Challenge Cup for boys U13 to U18 both take place this weekend.
On the rugby pitch tomorrow, the Peterborough Pagans U16 girls will face the Belleville Bulldogs in Junior Provincial Cup action at noon at Nicholls Oval. The club is also holding its first-ever “Suds and Studs” car wash fundraiser on Sunday from 12:30 to 3:30, also at Nicholls Oval.
And the U19 Ontario softball team will play a series of exhibition games as part of their preparation for the Canada Summer Games in Newfoundland. Game times are Saturday at 2 pm and 4 pm, and Sunday at 12 pm and 2 pm, all at Bowers Park.
From battles on the floor to clashes on the field, it’s a full weekend for Peterborough sports.
