A summer‑evening party at Rolling Grape Vineyard has poured $24,000 into Habitat for Humanity Peterborough & Kawartha Region’s next affordable‑housing builds.
More than 140 guests attended Saturday’s HomeGrown Vineyard Party Fundraiser, presented by RBC and Floortrends.
Attendees heard first‑hand how secure housing changes lives. Habitat homeowner Derrick and his teenage daughter described settling into the Leahy’s Lane development, while Jane Bischoff of Our Daughters’ Home outlined plans for an accessible East City duplex that will house seven women with developmental disabilities and a live‑in caregiver.
“It was truly heart‑warming to see so many members of our community come together to celebrate and support affordable housing,” Habitat CEO Susan Zambonin said. “The generosity shown at HomeGrown will have a real and lasting impact on local families.”
A silent auction featuring items such as a 12‑foot King Crimson maple, an original George Raab etching and custom furniture helped push the total. Proceeds will support both the Fraserville 3‑D build and the Our Daughters’ Home project.
