Peterborough athletes delivered standout performances at the OFSAA Track and Field Championships last week. St. Peter’s student Makayla Cremers captured silver in the junior girls 400 metre final, while Adam Scott’s Indie Bennett earned silver in the girls boys 800. Kenner’s Matthew Kathiravelu claimed double gold in the senior boys long jump and triple jump.
On the diamond, the Peterborough U8 Tier 2 Tigers won the Pink in the Park tournament, defeating Cambridge 15-6 in Sunday’s championship game. Weston Perrin was named Hardest Working Player. The event, held at local ballparks, raised funds in support of breast cancer research and treatment.
Meanwhile, Peterborough’s Corey Perry and the Edmonton Oilers are in Florida tonight for Game 3 of the Stanley Cup Final. The series is tied 1-1 following two tightly contested matchups.
