Water Street in Peterborough has been named the third worst road in Eastern Ontario in the 2025 CAA Worst Roads campaign.
The list, which includes roads in Peterborough County, Prince Edward County, Stormont, Dundas, and others, ranks County Road 49 in Prince Edward County as the worst, followed by Glen Road in Belleville.
The CAA says frustrations with potholes and poor maintenance continue to drive public dissatisfaction. Teresa Di Felice, assistant vice president of government and community relations with CAA South Central Ontario, stated, “Timely repairs, better communication, quick fixes, pothole funds, and using recycled aggregates are just some solutions to fix unsafe roads.”
The campaign saw a 20 per cent increase in road nominations across Ontario this year, with over 2,400 roads from 208 municipalities named. Di Felice added, “For over two decades, the CAA Worst Roads campaign has given Ontarians a voice to spotlight unsafe roads in their communities and push for much-needed repairs.”
Locally, Peterborough drivers have long voiced concerns about the condition of Water Street, highlighting potholes and uneven surfaces as ongoing issues.
