It’s hard to believe for many, but the Peterborough Sport & Wellness Centre is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
A special event was held on Thursday featuring dignitaries from the city and Fleming College.
Councillor Lesley Parnell says this facility has done a lot to improve the quality of life for Peterborough residents.
The centre continues to offer drop-in activities and programs each week, as well as serve as a home base for Fleming athletics.
Fleming’s Vice President of Student Experience, Kate McIntosh, says this facility helps make students feel apart of the community.
Kristy McNamara was captain of the Fleming women’s basketball team at the time of the opening and sunk the first basket.
