Team registration is open for a summer volleyball tournament at Beavermead Park that aims to further awareness of concussions.
Organized by the Greater Peterborough Health Services Foundation, the Beach 4’s Charity Volleyball Tournament will be held August 24th. Registration is limited to 24 teams for the recreational coed tournament, with all abilities and skill levels welcome.
Registration proceeds and sponsorships will benefit Peterborough Athletics Concussion Awareness as well as the H.O.P.E. Bursary established in honour of Steve Montador.
Foundation executive director Vince Bierworth says the event is being held following a very successful indoor tournament held this past February at Adam Scott.
Bierworth says the foundation has funded concussion awareness since 2012, adding great strides in education have been made as a result.
Bierworth says the timing of tournament is more by design than accident.
To register a team of four, the cost is $250. Visit www.gphsf.ca and click the events tab.
