The City of Peterborough is inviting residents to two upcoming community meetings to learn more about its expanded Community Planning Permit System and By-law Project.
City Council voted on March 10th to broaden the system’s scope to include all land within city limits, extending beyond the previously designated Strategic Growth Areas.
The Community Planning Permit System consolidates zoning by-law amendments, minor variances, and site plan applications into a single streamlined process. Officials say the move will modernize development regulations and help implement the vision laid out in the City’s Official Plan.
The by-law will replace the current zoning by-law, establishing rules for land uses, building heights, setbacks and other development standards.
Residents can attend either an in-person meeting on June 17th from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Miskin Law Community Complex or an online Zoom webinar on June 24th from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Both sessions will cover the same content.
Registration is required for both events at connectptbo.ca/cpps. The virtual session will be recorded and posted online.
The initiative builds on public input gathered during consultations in October 2024 and February 2025.
