Two Kawartha Lakes police officers jumped into the Scugog River Saturday evening to rescue a man spotted struggling in the water after jumping from a bridge in Lindsay.
The call came in around 6:05 pm, when a bystander reported seeing a man leap from the Water Street bridge and float downstream, yelling for help.
Responding officers saw the man in distress and swam out to him with ropes and flotation devices. They brought him back to shore with help from other officers.
The man was treated for hypothermia by paramedics and taken to Ross Memorial Hospital. The officers who entered the water were also taken to hospital and later released.
