Peterborough Action for Tiny Homes (PATH) is holding a fundraiser called “Lighting the Path: A Day of Music, Comedy and Inspiration” on Saturday (May 31) at Dreams of Beans Café, 141 Charlotte Street.
The event runs from noon until close to midnight with local performers and guest speakers providing entertainment. Entry is by donation.
PATH is a grassroots group focused on providing housing for those experiencing chronic homelessness through a housing-first, community-first approach. The organization is currently appealing a city council decision that rejected a temporary rezoning proposal to build transitional housing and wrap-around services for 24 vulnerable people.
PATH says the appeal is being handled through the Ontario Land Tribunal and legal costs are significant. While a lawyer is representing the group nearly pro bono, PATH has no government funding and relies on community support to cover costs.
For those who can’t attend, a livestream will be available on PATH’s Facebook page. Donations can also be made through their GoFundMe page.
