Peterborough residents will have a chance to weigh in on next year’s municipal budget during the city’s first public consultation session for the 2026 draft budget, now set for Thursday, June 19.
Originally scheduled for tonight (May 29), the meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Healthy Planet Arena Banquet Hall, located at 911 Monaghan Road.
The session will include a brief presentation explaining how the 2026 budget is being developed, along with a summary of the results from a public survey conducted in April. Residents will also get a preview of the financial pressures that may influence next year’s spending plan. Following the presentation, attendees can speak directly with city finance staff and members of Council to ask questions and share feedback.
A report on the 2026 budget process is expected to be brought forward at the June 30 City Council meeting. The draft budget is scheduled to be presented to Council on November 3, with additional engagement opportunities throughout the fall. The Mayor is expected to present the final budget for adoption on December 8.
Residents can find more information or submit comments through the city’s website at peterborough.ca/budget or by visiting the engagement hub at connectptbo.ca/2026Budget.
