Rain will continue across much of southern and central Ontario as a slow-moving low-pressure system lingers over the region.
Environment Canada says an additional 10 to 20 millimetres of rain is expected in Peterborough before the system begins to taper off Friday afternoon or evening, moving from west to east.
The persistent rainfall may result in localized flooding in low-lying areas, and residents are advised to exercise caution, especially near rivers, creeks and stormwater drains.
Officials are urging the public to monitor local conditions and stay informed through their regional Conservation Authority or the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. More information about potential flooding and safety precautions can be found at Ontario.ca/floods.
Rainfall warnings remain in effect in several areas. Motorists are reminded to drive with care, as pooling water on roadways may create hazardous conditions.
