National Public Works Week will be marked in Peterborough on May 22nd at Nicholls Oval, offering a great chance to thank local public works staff still hard at it in the aftermath of the ice storm.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., residents of all ages are invited to get up close and personal with heavy-duty public works vehicles as well as chat with city workers who operate the equipment. In addition, city arborists will demonstrate tree climbing and tree planting techniques, with an 11 a.m. guided tree identification tour held.
Event chair Natasha Parker, a public works employee, says the event offers a great reminder that her colleagues work around the clock, performing a variety of vital tasks.
Parker adds the event also provides an opportunity to thank public works employees for all they do.
As part of the event, there’s also a giveaway.
