A 55-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after two separate assault incidents in the city’s downtown core Friday afternoon.
Police were called to the area of Sherbrooke and George streets around 3:50pm on May 16 after a woman reported being grabbed from behind by a man she didn’t know. While officers were investigating, a second call came in reporting a similar incident involving a child nearby.
Police say the suspect was last seen heading toward Del Crary Park. A man matching the description was located and arrested following a brief foot chase.
He’s now charged with sexual assault and assault on a child.
