Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is among the first hospitals in Canada, and the only hospital its size, to launch a dedicated Nursing Strategy.
The multi-year plan was co-created by leaders and nurses across PRHC and aims to keep the nursing profession relevant, focused, and responsive to patient needs in the coming years.
“Today, PRHC is home to more than 1600 nurses who are an integral part of our team, and we are thrilled to have their insights and ideas reflected in the commitments we’ve set out in our new Nursing Strategy,” said Noel Bennett, PRHC’s Vice President of Clinical Services and Chief Nursing Executive. “The energy that our nursing professionals have brought to this process has been truly inspiring, and I look forward to continuing to collaborate with them as we engage in this important work together over the next several years.”
The strategy emphasizes professional fulfillment for nurses, quality of care and patient outcomes, and innovation in nursing practice as healthcare evolves.
It aligns with PRHC’s 2024–2029 Strategic Plan and will be launched alongside the Workplace Well-Being Framework and Professional Staff Action Plan this spring. Together, these initiatives aim to make PRHC a more supportive, responsive and innovative workplace for all healthcare staff.
The Nursing Strategy was announced shortly after National Nursing Week, which ran May 5 to 11.
