An annual fundraiser for the Lakefield Animal Welfare Society (LAWS) returns June 7th in the form of the popular Doggie Dash.
Set for Isabel Morris Park in Selwyn, registration begins at noon, with the walk itself starting at 1 p.m. Registrants signed up at www.lakefieldanimalwelfare.org/doggiedash can chose between a 1.5-kilometre walk or a 2.5-kilometre trek. Post-dash activity will feature local vendors, food offerings and live music featuring Sean Hully.
LAWS director of operations Lyndsay Lisson-De Ell says money raised is vital to the shelter’s operation, noting participants can walk with their dog, or come on their own.
Asked what her favourite thing is about the fundraiser, Lisson De-Ell answers quickly.
Lisson De-Ell says while the shelter is currently stretched, the community is responding, with people helping in any way they can.
