With Peterborough’s annual festival celebration of the arts returning this fall, the Electric City Culture Council (EC3) has issued a call for arts-related project proposals.
From September 29 to October 5, Artsweek will be staged for a 20th time, featuring artists of all disciplines performing in a variety of public space locations, such as parks, playgrounds, on sidewalks and in downtown alleys. From now until June 10th, Individual artists and arts organizations can propose projects to be included as part of this year’s performance lineup.
EC3 executive director Su Ditta says anywhere from 25 to 45 proposals are submitted each year.
Ditta says Artsweek provides an exciting opportunity for artists, particularly those of the emerging variety.
Ditta says if there was a silver lining in the last fall’s near loss of city funding for Artsweek, it’s that many stepped forward to say how important the event is to Peterborough’s cultural vibrancy.
