The Peterborough Lakers are bringing home three familiar faces this summer, re-signing local players Mike Robinson, Drew Hutchison, and Colton Armstrong ahead of the 2025 Major Series Lacrosse season.
All three returning players recently wrapped up the National Lacrosse League season with the Halifax Thunderbirds, helping the team reach the league semifinals.
Robinson returns to Peterborough after his rookie year in the NLL, where he made a strong impression on the offensive end. His 54 points (22 goals and 32 assists) were the fourth most on the team. He also had a goal and 11 assists in three playoff games. After playing for the Lakers in 2023, Robinson suited up with the Premier Lacrosse League’s Boston Cannons last summer.
After sharing the crease in Halifax with Warren Hill, Hutchison returns to the Lakers lineup more seasoned than ever. The 27-year-old had a record of 5-3 with the Thunderbirds, with an 11.96 goals against average and a 76% save percentage, and was an instrumental part of their playoff run.
Armstrong, a transition specialist with exceptional speed, adds depth to the lineup, coming off his most successful season in Halifax. Known for his steady play and ability to contribute at both ends of the floor, Armstrong has been a Lakers fan favourite from the day he was traded to the team from the Cobourg Kodiaks in 2023.
Each of the returning players grew up in Peterborough and came through the local lacrosse system.
The Lakers open their 2025 regular season next Wednesday in Brooklin, and then will play their home opener the following night, Thursday, May 22, against the Six Nations Chiefs. Single-game tickets go on sale tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. at the Grant Thornton Box Office at the Peterborough Memorial Centre and online at memorialcentre.ca.
