Today is the Provincial Day of Action on Litter, and the City of Peterborough is encouraging residents to do their part to help reduce waste and protect the environment.
Held each year on the second Tuesday of May, the province-wide initiative promotes simple steps to prevent litter and keep communities clean, such as choosing reusable containers, composting, and recycling whenever possible.
In Peterborough, 26 community cleanup events have already taken place this year, supported by the city’s Public Works department. Groups can still request free litter cleanup kits at peterborough.ca/litteraction.
Information on organizing a safe cleanup are available at ontario.ca/actionlitter.
